Pantau - Abdul Rahim, a member of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB), plans to request protection from the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) following a series of threats and intimidation linked to a corruption investigation involving alleged gratification within the NTB DPRD.
Rahim’s legal representative, Aan Ramadhan, confirmed that his client has faced psychological pressure due to threats, including social media posts displaying Rahim’s name and photo.
These actions have severely impacted his family, who also received disturbing phone calls falsely claiming Rahim is listed as a fugitive (Daftar Pencarian Orang).
Threats and Hoaxes Spark Legal Action
Aan stated that Abdul Rahim is considering filing a police report regarding the threats and the spread of false information, which he considers damaging hoaxes intended to intimidate and discredit him.
Rahim has taken a vocal stance in supporting the ongoing investigation into the alleged bribery case within the NTB DPRD.
He previously rejected an offer of Rp200 million in connection with the alleged gratification scheme.
According to Aan, Rahim’s firm rejection and cooperation with law enforcement have made him a target of intimidation from certain parties.
Ongoing Investigation and Calls for Protection
Abdul Rahim has been summoned for further questioning by the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office, where he has provided additional testimony.
Other DPRD members have also been questioned as part of the broader investigation.
Given the risks involved, Rahim intends to formally seek protection from LPSK to ensure his safety and that of his family during the legal process.
The case has drawn public attention amid wider efforts to combat corruption in local government structures.
